VP, Marketing - Bracing & Supports Division USA, California,
Role Summary: Lead all strategic and tactical marketing
activities for DJO’s Bracing and Supports (BAS) business by
exercising deep knowledge and experience in leadership, strategy,
marketing, organizational development, and project / program
management to achieve business growth and profitability targets.
Perform the following essential functions through mentorship and
limited supervision from the BAS President, by working closely with
other BAS executive leaders, and by establishing a high-performance
culture & utilizing Colfax Business System tools .
Set the strategic direction for, build, and lead a best-in-class
Bracing & Supports (BAS) Marketing function, including:
Collaborate with other executive staff to develop a marketing
strategy and plan. Direct & implement this strategy as well as
policies, objectives, activities, and internal controls in
alignment with BAS / DJO.
Build a winning marketing team by ensuring the highest quality
staff are hired and retained. Evaluate and continually upgrade the
marketing org structure and team, ensuring all staff are trained
and proficient with critical marketing and financial analysis
skills. Ensure administrative processes & programs supporting
associate needs are completed consistently and fairly across the
Develop and manage Marketing budget to optimize fiscal and human
resource investments, improve efficiency, and deliver against
objectives for the department.
Prepare reports, budgets, and presentations for Customers, DJO
and Colfax executives.
Ensure corporate values are reinforced through deliberate
communication, training, and development of the Marketing team.
Serve as a role model and lead by example.
Work cross-functionally across DJO businesses to leverage the
full portfolio of offerings to help drive company-wide initiatives
and optimize market positions.
Lead Strategic Marketing / Upstream Marketing for Bracing &
Establish strategic marketing plans to ensure BAS maintains /
achieves a strong #1 position in every key product category.
Coordinate Marketing efforts with Strategic Development, Business
Development, Engineering / Research & Development to ensure
achievement of desired market position organically and/or via
Researches and analyze competitive, financial, technological,
clinical, and patient trends & actions to capitalize on
opportunities and meet changing market demands & competitive
Drive an industry-leading vision in each category that delivers
on our brand promise of being an innovator and technology leader.
Develop strategies to maintain & improve product excellence and
deliver regular innovations across the portfolio as well as
ground-breaking products to our customer and patients on a regular
Execute strong Voice of Customer programs to identify customer
needs & preferences; identify and evaluate new product ideas to
maintain freshness / vitality of BAS offerings.
Set product / solution offering roadmaps for each BAS category,
including product positioning and pricing strategy to both meet
customer needs and reduce BAS cost to maximize business growth and
profitability. Work with BAS executive staff to deploy resources
necessary across functions to deliver new solutions on time and
Lead monthly Product Planning Group (PPG) Focus meetings (i.e.,
New Product Introductions) meetings for BAS’ global NPI portfolio.
Ensure new introductions achieve cost / performance targets and
timelines set in category strategies.
Deliver Downstream Marketing / Marketing Communications / Sales
Support for BAS, including:
Deliver clear product positioning and information to develop
sales tools / collateral including corporate presentations, website
content, product brochures, white papers, data sheets, etc.
Develop & deliver product demonstrations with compelling
scripts, data, video, etc. to the field selling org.
Develop & deliver BAS Value selling materials tailored to our
offerings to the field selling org.
Own & execute all PR, targeted advertising, etc. activities for
Drive Marketing engagement & accountability in cross-functional
efforts to drive accurate demand forecasting to improve overall
Sales, Inventory, and Operational Planning (SIOP).
Utilize Colfax Business System to deliver objectives and drive
continuous improvement, including:
Conduct a rigorous monthly “Marketing L2” meeting, utilizing
root cause countermeasure (RCCM), policy deployment (PD), and other
tools to manage progress vs. objectives.
Regularly analyze and evaluate financial performance and sales /
average selling price / gross margin performance across categories
and segments. Understand and identify root causes of over and under
performance, and leverage / address as appropriate (e.g., implement
short term countermeasures, longer term corrective actions, or
broader cost reduction / program improvement initiatives).
Utilize CBS tools including Global NPI templates, evaluation
scorecards, ECV calculators, etc. to make the best decisions
possible about the future of the BAS product & solutions
Drive financial management and accountability to assure
successful execution of marketing programs and consistent
achievement of revenue and profitability objectives.
Education and Experience Required:
BS/BA or equivalent
At least 3 distinct work experiences relevant to general
management, totaling at least 7 years of successful, progressively
responsibility in broad leadership roles with a direct P&L
Screening and selection, references, testing and other
pre-qualifications relevant to the applicable VP opportunity at the
time of hire.
Demonstrated success in competitive market scenarios

exhibiting both a sense of urgency & composure; demonstrated
