Aerospace is seeking a Senior Product Development Lead, Engineered
Items to join our Systems and Equipment engineering organization.
In this role you will drive cross functional execution of strategic
development projects associated with new product design and
technologies. These projects are key enablers to technology
advancement and cost savings initiatives on current and future
programs. You will utilize Collins Management System and associated
tools to successfully take new products through technology
development phases and into production implementation. This will
include utilization of Technology Progression gate reviews, Advance
Product Quality Planning (APQP), integrated master schedules, risk
mitigation tools, and financial analysis. In addition, you will
need project management, analytical, communication, and
presentation skills. -You will interact with Suppliers, Value
Streams, Engineering, Quality and Executive Leadership Teams on a
global level.**Position will be working in a Hybrid capacity, a
weekly mix of working onsite and remotely from home, at our Chula
Vista CA facility. Relocation assistance is available. Primary
Responsibilities:
- Utilize the Collins Management System to develop and execute on
strategic initiatives associated with technology and product
development.
- Create and execute complex projects for product development
that include design development, validation & verification,
prototype procurement and build, and product introduction
- Oversee projects to ensure they are aligned to Collins
Aerospace's strategic plans and objectives
- Communicate to stakeholders how the development projects align
to the business' goals and metrics
- Create visual management tools to communicate real-time project
health and status
- Work with project technical leads to resolve technical
challenges and conduct schedule and risk trade studies
- Drive successful execution of design and development phase,
including design evolution, oversight of the prototype hardware
build within the supply base and validation testing
- Visit suppliers to evaluate initial capabilities and ongoing
performance
- Drive process improvement throughout the development and
production phases
- Monitor project timelines and reevaluate project's financial
forecasts
- Ad-hoc project schedule and financial analysis, reporting, and
presentations
- Will use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, project)
to create financial analysis and presentations
- Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally when
circumstances permit
- Perform other duties as requiredBasic Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering
or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced
Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in
absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now
or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for
this position.
- Experience with any part of the Product Development Life
Cycle
- Experience with aircraft parts, structures and/or
components
- Project management experience working in cross functional
teams
- Experience in Stakeholder communications and presentations
- Understanding of engineering principles and theories
- Microsoft Office: Project and ExcelPreferred Qualifications
- Program Management experience (cost benefits analysis)
- Knowledge on nacelle systems and components
- Knowledge related to the design and qualification requirements
of aerospace components
- Knowledge of DO-160 environmental requirements
- Finance background or previous Program Management
experience
- Experience in Operations, finance, supply chain, or business
strategy
- PMP certification
- Strong data skills, advanced user of all Microsoft Excel
- Experience working in a matrix organization
- Some familiarity with programming and data visualization
- Experience with manufacturing operations and processes
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge
- Process Improvement experience
- Executive communication experience
