Founded in 1973, Casa Familiar (Casa) is a community-based organization dedicated to serving residents in the South County area of San Diego. As the leading community service and community development organization in San Ysidro, our dynamic team of 70 staff members and 50 volunteers provide over 40 bilingual programs and services across six different sites in San Ysidro, Barrio Logan, National City, and Chula Vista. Our greatest strength is community, and we make sure that the community remains at the center of our work. With a $8.8M annual operating budget, our programs and services are having a lasting impact on our community for generations to come. Last year, we proudly served and engaged nearly 143,000 people.

As a member of the executive team, the Chief Programs Officer will report to CEO, Lisa Cuestas. A 22-year veteran of Casa, Lisa started as a volunteer, then joined the organization and served in a variety of roles before being appointed CEO in 2016. Under her leadership, Casa continues to achieve great success, growing programs, securing new funding, and uplifting the community. Recently, the Board of Directors approved a new living wage ($21/hr.) base salary for all Casa employees.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
---Salary - $115,000 - $130,000

LOCATION
This is an in-person role, based in Casa's main office located at 1901 Del Sur Blvd., San Diego, CA 92713.

The Chief Programs Officer (CPO) is a newly created role, designed to elevate and integrate our programs and services. The CPO will be a key member of our executive team, serving as a thought partner and sounding board to our CEO. This is a highly collaborative and visible role, working in partnership with leadership, staff, and the community to build, implement, and sustain enhanced and thriving programs that align with Casa's goals, mission, and values. The CPO will oversee an annual budget of $7.9M, with responsibility and oversight of all programmatic and social services departments, as well as arts & culture, fundraising, and our advocacy and community engagement team. They will lead and mentor a total team of 56, including three direct reports: Programs Officer, Development Officer, and Advocacy & Community Engagement Officer.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
---Play a leading role in Casa's overall strategy planning and implementation efforts, policy and advocacy activities, priority setting, and budget development.
---Implement innovative strategies to lead and support program design, impact, scalability, and expansion efforts, including the development of an assessment process to determine community needs, mission alignment, feasibility, and sustainability of programs.
---Establish performance indicators to measure programmatic success, quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of services and outcomes for programs.
---Lead the development of Casa's annual report.
---Drive opportunities for leveraging cross-program and cross-partner collaboration to strengthen and enhance Casa's programmatic impact.
---Actively participate in fundraising efforts, partnering with the CEO and the Development Officer in the promotion of fundraising events, grant writing, and stewarding donor relationships.
---Oversee contractual compliance, including monitoring of deliverables and reports.
---Promote and model cross-departmental collaboration and foster a culture of constant communication and continuous improvement.
---Support staff with inspirational leadership, mentoring, team building, and growth opportunities, while ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of Casa's programs and services.
Serve as a Casa spokesperson and ambassador, representing the organization across the community, attending events and engaging with stakeholders including current and potential donors, program partners, the Board of Directors, elected officials, media etc.
BACKGROUND PROFILE
---Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English required; able to work across and within the two cultures with fluidity.
---Commitment to Casa's mission with a deep passion and dedication to advancing racial, economic, social, and environmental justice in immigrant, low-income, and multi-generational communities.
---A self-actualized leader focused on impact and continuous improvement.
---Ability to quickly shift gears and priorities as circumstances evolve.
---An analytical and strategic thinker who is adaptable and compassionate, with demonstrated success in community organizing, program design, enhancement, implementation, and evaluation.
---Demonstrated senior leadership and management experience, including strategy development, budget development, board engagement, change management, team collaboration, and talent development.
---Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral (English and Spanish); experience as a public spokesperson and advocate.
---Proven ability to create lasting and impactful partnerships with a wide array of stakeholders, including nonprofit organizations, businesses, government, community members, and funders.
---Demonstrated experience with supporting programmatic fundraising efforts, including grant writing, management, and reporting.
