Job Description:
Position Purpose: This position will implement safety and health
procedures to ensure compliance to all criteria of the Ship
Provisioning contract specifications and all applicable
regulations. The SSHO will inspect all phases of services and
operations to ensure all services listed on the Performance Work
Statement are performed in a satisfactory and safe manner,
specifies areas to be inspected (scheduled and unscheduled) and how
often inspections will be accomplished, communicates deficiencies
to the Government's Contracting Representatives, maintains Safety
and Health files, and documents results of all inspections. Primary
Duties:
- Implements service procedures and assesses product/equipment
capabilities and specifications to establish proposed safety and
health expectancy of completed work.
- Maintains safety objectives and coordinates same with
production procedures in cooperation with contract managers to
maximize service reliability and to contain costs.
- Implements safety inspection procedures, checklists, and
schedules.
- Works in conjunction with VersAbility's Senior Assistant
Director of Government Contracts and Contract Manager in analyzing
inspection results for trends, unusual situations, safety
considerations, and team/staff adherence to safety standards and
objectives. Communicates inspection results with VersAbility's
Senior Assistant Director of Government Contracts - as appropriate.
Releases inspection reports in accordance with the contract and
VersAbility's operating procedures.
- Meets regularly with Government Safety Representatives and
VersAbility's Senior Assistant Director of Government Contracts to
provide written, and/or oral status reports on safety program.
- Implements and participates in all initial and ongoing Safety
training programs and assists with conducting trainings as required
or requested.
- Follows the direction of the Senior Assistant Director of
Government Contracts to investigate and correct customer complaints
regarding safety and health non-conformance.
- Fosters teamwork while balancing team and individual
responsibilities; giving feedback to nurture a positive team spirit
and safe performance; and modeling dependability, hard work, strong
business ethics, and professional personal appearance.
- Assures safety of employees by monitoring proper use of
equipment and adherence to safety policies.
- Completes required paperwork and/or documentation.
- Completes and maintains all VersAbility Resources and U.S.
Government required trainings.
- Responsible for appropriate conduct and demeanor as dictated by
VersAbility Resources policy.
- Ensures the work site is OSHA compliant and employees on the
contract are adhering to all CDC and VRI guidelines as it relates
to COVID-19.
- Coordinates solicitated feedback through surveys and groups
sessions with key stakeholders in the safety process
- Writes and implements departmental policies using OSHA and CDC
regulatory guidelines.
- Attend and participate in AEU Safety meetings and Trainings
quarterly.
- Attend and participate in VersAbility scheduled Safety
Meetings.
- Other duties as assigned, or as stated in the Statement of
Work/Performance Work Statement. Qualifications/Skills Knowledge &
Abilities: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required,
advanced degree preferred. Experience: Minimum 3 years relevant
work experience delivering a safety program of the same size and
complexity Skills Knowledge & Abilities:
- Must possess a valid insurable driver license.
- Must possess strong communication skills, including the ability
to read and interpret documents such as safety rules; ability to
author and maintain instructions and procedural manuals; ability to
write routine reports and correspondence, and present information
to groups of employees, many of whom are people with
disabilities.
- Ability to interact and train personnel with assorted
disabilities.
- Must project a positive and professional image to the public,
co-workers and VersAbility Resources clients.
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook experience required.
- Must obtain and maintain the appropriate credentials and
DoD/VersAbility Resources background checks as required by the
contract, which is the OSHA 30 General Industry Certification and
EM-385 "U.S. Army Safety and Health Requirements Manual"
requirements (3 years of related industry safety experience or 2
years if he/she possesses a Certified Safety Professional or Safety
and Health degree). Competencies: To perform the job successfully,
