The Recreation Assistant is responsible for assisting in the
development of the activity program and planning special events in
accordance with current existing federal, state, and local
standards, as well as our established policies and procedures. They
are responsible for ensuring that the spiritual, emotional, and
psycho-social needs of residents are met on an individual
High School Diploma / GED
Ability to read, write, and speak well enough to provide written
documentation, read and understand policies, procedures and
communications, and communicate effectively with other employees/
Current CPR certification
Prior experience providing activities or other types of group
Prior experience in Mental Health preferred.
Clean driving record preferred.
Sample Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, developing, organizing, and leading residents
in groups and activities.
Assist the Recreation Director in scheduling parties and other
Be aware of the department budget and ensure that the Recreation
Department expenditures stay within budget.
Participate regularly in scheduled orientation and in-service
training in relation to the social, emotional, recreation, and
special treatment needs of residents.
Encourage hobbies and crafts. Provide materials in keeping with the
resident's financial status and department budget.
Record and maintain activity progress notes as well as a record of
resident's attendance in activities, groups and one on ones.
Observe or assist clients as assigned.
Driving clients as needed.
