Job Description:
The South Bay Latino Research Center (SBLRC) seeks to promote
and expedite research that improves cardiovascular disease outcomes
in low-income Hispanic/Latinos living in the border region of San
Diego County. The SBLRC is considered the community-based clinical
research field site within San Diego State University (SDSU) where
research activities are conducted. Our research is focused on
epidemiologic, behavioral, and genetic research in an effort to
improve health, and well-being delivered to Hispanic/Latinos at
risk for, or have, cardiometabolic conditions such as obesity,
diabetes and cardiovasculardisease.This position will support the
design, development, and implementation of tables and queries of a
tracking database utilized by the Hispanic Community Health
Study/Study of Latinos. This position will work collaboratively
with the data manager to develop and implement the protocols to
transfer HIPAA protected information to Mongo DB. Conduct quality
assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of the information migrated
to Mongo DB. This position will provide user based- training,
develop help files, and assist end-user access to tracking
database. The position is responsible for but not limited to:
Create queries, tables, and conduct data cleaning and verification
of data migration from existing Access DB to Mongo DBPerform data
quality control audits and develop quality control reports to
verify accuracy of the information outputsPrepare, create, and
merge HIPAA protected information and other tracking requirements
Develop training materials and provide training to end-users on
proper data entry procedures in Mongo DB. Create, manage,
problem-solved issues with study new databaseCreate user help files
Other duties can be assigned as neededKnowledge and
AbilitiesKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Access/SQL
and Excel, data structures and algorithmsKnowledge of Mongo
DBKnowledge of programming languages (e.g., Visual Basic, SQL) to
develop databases and queries.Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines for
protection of human subjects, Health Information Technology
regulatory guidelines and policies on Protected Health Information
(PII)Ability to train, learn and master Mondo DB programAbility to
complete detailed work accurately and efficiently; quickly learn
and follow specific data management procedures; multi-task - manage
multiple and competing priorities; take initiative Ability to work
well independently and with colleagues/co-workers and demonstrate
