• Previous experience as an Infection Preventionist.Or
• 3 Years Experience in acute care hospital. Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • International Medical Technologist MT(ASCP) - ASCP Board of Certification -PREFERRED
  • Certified in Infection Control (CIC) - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology -PREFERRED
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -PREFERREDOther Qualification Requirements
    • Primary professional training as a licensed nurse, medical technologist, microbiologist, epidemiologist, public health professional, or other health care related field. - RequiredCompleted specialized training in infection prevention and control. - Required within 90 days of hire. Department will track the completion of this requirement.Be qualified by education, training, clinical or health care experience, or certification. - RequiredEssential Functions
      • Assists in development, implementation, and improvement of infection control practicesMaintains and utilizes knowledge of current CDC guidelines, JCAHO standards, State and local regulations pertaining to infection control.Reviews and disseminates current infection control information to individuals and departments based upon needs assessment and requests.Acts as resource to nursing, ancillary, and medical staff to respond to concerns regarding infection control practices.Works with other support department (MM, EVS, Nursing) to insure that process is in place to allow for compliance with appropriate infection control practices.Demonstrates ability to develop infection control policies and procedures using all guidelines and regulations that pertain to policy.
      • Infection surveillance activitiesCreates quarterly nosocomial surveillance reportsTracks epidemiologically significant organismsDemonstrates ability to identify patterns and clusters of pathogens.Reports contain graphic display of data, analysis of data, and action plans as appropriateAssembles performance improvement team to review issues and create action plansDemonstrates ability to perform outbreak investigation
