Collins Aerospace Aerostructures is looking for an aerospace Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer (Actuation) who will be responsible for all phases of Nacelle Actuation Systems development (e.g. requirements, design, analysis, validation, verification, and in-service support), including integration with aircraft systems and engine controls. In addition, you will have exposure as the Point-of-Contact (POC) to international customers and suppliers.

The position is working in a Hybrid capacity, a mix of onsite and remote from home, at our Chula Vista CA facility. Relocation assistance is available.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage technical deliverables of actuation suppliers
  • Coordinate cross-functional, global teamwork
  • Derive requirements and define system architecture and interfaces
  • Lead failure root cause and corrective action investigations
  • Support system integration and verification planning
  • Correlate test data with system models
  • Communicate with external customers, and internal senior leadership regularly to resolve technical issues.
  • Visit suppliers/customers as required to support investigations and testing
  • Establish and mature relationships across departments for technical alignment, problem resolution and customer support (aftermarket, supply chain, program technical office)
  • Communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership
  • Able to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
  • Perform other duties as required

    Basic Qualifications

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
      • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

      • Experience with aerospace system integration and verification/validation

        Preferred Qualifications

        • Experience with requirements management (e.g. DOORS)
        • Experience with RTCA DO-160 qualification testing
        • Simulation and/or modeling experience using MATLAB/Simulink, and/or Cameo or equivalent SysML tools
        • Experience with electrical aircraft actuation systems and/or components
        • Familiar with ARP4754 guidelines
        • Experience with aircraft hydraulic systems and/or components
        • Understanding of LEAN/Continuous Improvement
        • Important to be creative, analytical, self-starter, energetic and work well in a team environment at all levels of organization

              The salary range for this role is 94,000 USD - 196,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
