Description:Installs the installation and/or construction of
bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors and trim, windows, rails, hardware
and any other related construction activities assigned by
supervisor Installation and assembly with large sheet metal pieces,
valves, bulkheads and other internal components of a NAVY ship.
Installs and assists in the installation of insulation of
compartment floors, ceilings or interior/exterior walls Working
with Tac welding and large sheet-metal pieces to put them in place
before the welders come and weld them completely. Will be working
with Navy Standards and must be able to read blueprintsSkills:
installation, bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors, windows, rails,
Shipyard, Sheet metal, Hvac, Blueprint, Duct work, Install, Duct
installation, Mechanical, Sheet metal fabrication, Sheet metal
installation, VentilationAdditional Skills & Qualifications:Must be
able to obtain a DBIDS for Naval Air Station North Island
(Coronado, CA)Must have at least 3+ years of marine electrical
experienceMust have completed HS diploma or GEDIdeal candidate will
have marine electrical habitability experiencePrevious experience
working aboard a CVN Class Navy ship preferred Able to read &
understand blue print layout, assembly and installation required
Fabricate, assemble, modify, install and repair various sections
into sheet metal products such as shipboard ventilation systems,
housings, shields, metal partitions, metal furniture and doors,
galley equipment, strainers, stowage bins and a variety of special
custom made small parts peculiar to ship repair work. Sheet metal
mechanic work requires knowledge of physical properties and working
characteristics of sheet metal, knowledge of tools and equipment
required in sheet metal trade, and knowledge of shop mathematics
and principles. Utilize the full array of metal working machines
and measures with various precision instruments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals,
specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and
tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and
setup requirements. Measures, marks, and scribes layout on metals,
plastics, woods, and laminates. Sets up and operates machine tools
such as press brakes, shears, punches, and rollers, drill presses,
vertical and horizontal band saws, (hydraulic saws), and plasma
machines to fabricate parts to specifications. Utilizes hand tools
such as grinders, drills, rivet guns, saws, calipers, scribes,
combination squares. Verifies conformance of fabricated layouts and
items to the blueprint specifications. Operate all machines in
discipline. REQUIRED: Prospective employees should have a minimum
